葉黃素知多少?


Q.何謂葉黃素(Lutein)與玉米黃素(Zeaxanthin)
A.
通常葉黃素製品中,會含有玉米黃素,兩者均可幫助眼睛過濾藍光及紫外線,  以及對抗自由基可能造成眼球的傷害及輻射傷害,在人類的視網膜的黃斑部及眼球水晶體中就含有此些物質,特別稱為黃斑色素(Macular Pigment),兩者是結構極為類似的同分異構物。


Q.葉黃素的萃取標準規格?
A.自然界中同時含有葉黃素與玉米黃素的植物主要是金盞花Marigold flower的花瓣,也是目前提煉葉黃素與玉米黃素的主要來源

原料來源目前全世界萃取葉黃素與玉米黃素,並得到美國FDA安全認證及專利的原
料廠有兩家 :
    
 Kemin[FloraGlo®] 以及Cognis [Xangold®]由於來源珍貴,所以價格較高,一般廠商均宣稱向Kemin廠買到FloraGlo原料,至於是否真正採用其原料或採用 一兩 批以後隨意添加其他配方,其效果如何就無從評論起了


 備註 :1.這個專利屬於原料廠,不屬於廠商,若只進原料,然後隨意添加其他成份做成的產品,就不能宣稱專利配方。Cognis 廠的Xangold®原料由於獲歐美大廠採用,貨源不足,所以很少賣給台灣廠商,除了直接由美國生產製造並經衛生署認證成品原裝進口,其調配的配方更獲美國醫學教科書PDR(Physiciansdesk   Refernce)登載、認證


   2.要分辨成品是否由國外進口,可以輸入英文品名到衛生署(DOH)食品衛生

    建議每日服用30mg lutein
    但我最近服用的是 20mg / 顆
    每日服用2顆就40 mg了 (東西已經買了花了好幾千塊)
    有廳藥局醫師說服用過量對身體不好
    是這樣嗎?

    Q4. Lutein與β-carotene併用是否有致癌的疑慮?

    Ans. Lutein、β-carotene及其他carotenoids都是被用來抗氧化與抵抗癌症用的,但就如同前述對過多已被氧化的油溶性抗氧化物堆積在體內的疑慮(尤其是肺部、肝臟、眼睛等部位,及白人的皮膚),適量均勻平衡的油性、水性抗氧化物組合,才是妥善、安全、有效的最理想配方。

    此外,Lutein的生體可用率(Bio-avalability)是β-carotene的5倍高;但經由大、小便的排泄量,Lutein遠(數倍)低於β-carotene。同時,Lutein易儲績在脂肪組織中,若自由基(free radicals)的產生量實在過多,耗盡所服用的油溶性抗氧化物,最另人擔心的應是Lutein而不是β-carotene。

    依RDA建議量,Vit. A與β-carotene之每日總攝取量,換算不宜超過3000 iu. Retinol,約相當於900 RAE (Retinol Activity Equvalent)。有文獻顯示β-carotene之超高劑量(每天25-50 mg,purity ?)連續服用6年,對抽煙者之肺癌發生率反而升高。此點正反應出我們的疑慮是正確而有意義的,RDA尚未對Lutein訂出每日建議服用量,我們認為應以最低有效量為宜。

    依Br J Ophthalmol 1998 Aug;82:907-910. Fruits and vegetables that are sources for Lutein and Zeaxanthin: the macular pigment in human eyes所載,紅色葡萄、南瓜、黃瓜、菠菜、青椒、黃椒、橘子汁、青花菜、豌豆、番茄、桃子、蘋果等食物,皆同時含有Lutein及β-carotene。有業者宣稱Lutein及β-carotene一起服用會致肺癌,依此推論,那該等食物是否皆是致癌食物?非也,那是因為超高劑量的β-carotene於老煙槍的肺中(肺中氧分壓高易氧化、且香煙之nicotine激發很多自由基),該油溶性抗氧化物(β-carotene)的保護作用已完全被耗盡,已轉成有害之自由基,但卻仍積留在肺部組織中,反效果是可理解的;但此現象絕非僅發生於β-carotene,相信其他油溶性的carotenoids,例如Vit. A、Lutein、Zeaxanthin、Lycopene等,若長期過量服用,且free radicals的challenge亦持續過高,想必亦會有一樣的疑慮。

    為彌補油溶性抗氧化物劑量不宜過高之限制,唯有增加水溶性抗氧化物,如Vit. C 50 mg及枸杞子多醣體、半水溶性之Vit. E (50 %) 30 mg、花青素120 mg (含Anthocyanosides 40 %)、Acrobio®草本食品添加物、微量元素Selenium & Zinc等,以發揮油性、水性均勻平衡,安全、有效的協同抗氧化作用。
